The College Student Assistance (CSA) program is a federally funded program provided per the Act of June 18, 1934, Sec. 11, 48 Stat. 986; 25 U.S.C. 471 which authorizes a program of assistance, by educational grants, to Indians seeking higher education. Under the authority of 25 U.S.C. 13, the United States Education Department provides grants for higher education.

Deadline:  all required documents must be post-dated by May 15

Applicant files consisting of the following criteria and documentation will be considered for funding in the upcoming academic year:

  1. Complete CSA application.
  2. Official high school, college or GED transcripts (whichever is most recent) indicating a 2.00 GPA or better.
  3. The Tribal Enrollment form (last page of application) must be fully completed even if a person has completed one in the past, or has obtained an official tribal enrollment number.
  4. Copy of Letter of Admission/Acceptance (LOA) from an accredited college or university indicating full-time enrollment in a declared degree program.

NOTE:  Some colleges have an open admission policy and do not give Letters of Acceptance/Acceptance to students. In this case it is the student's responsibility to request a verification of acceptance into a degree program from the registrar's office or student advisor to be sent to Higher Education.

Application/documentation received after the deadline date are processed as follows:  

Funding consideration will be conducted in the following sequence:

    1. Current CSA students (continuing students)
    2. New applicants
    1. Wait-listed students

A point system is applied to all new applicants and reinstated students as follows:
